Mesa single rectifier

Michael	Mesa single rectifier I recently purchased this amp off of e bay. The clean channel sounds great, however the high gain channel has a very treble type sound, also very grainy. The more gain you dial in makes it worse. The eq adjustments can not get rid of it. I have run a Mesa V-1 bottle rocket dist. pedal thru the clean channel and it sounds great. I am wondering if I have some tubes going, or what ???
