I think the answer to my question is related to the following (from their mounting info): "Accutronics units are designed to be mounted as shown in figures shown below. In this position the weight of the springs displaces the magnets along the air gap, not toward the lamination. The closer the magnet is to the lamination, the less of a shock can be given to the unit before the magnet will bottom on the laminations." I have a Gibson amp, in which the 'reverb' pot changes the amount of drive signal to the pan, and the pan output goes directly into the amp, no control. This seems like an odd design choice compared with the more common arrangement of constant drive signal and attenuate the output, which is less noisy. It also yields the "feature" that you can have just the wet signal alone with no dry mixed in, should you choose. Odd. |
