Most of the time when building a new amp or completely rebuilding an old one and not having a centre-tap on the filament winding I do use two 100 to 220 ohms (metalfilm, 1.6 Watts) resistors. The juction does get connected to ground, pin 8 from the outputtubes if cathodebiased or a + 40 Volts reference taken from the regular powersupply. The last two methods are good for extra hum-reducing. Hope this helps, Chris
