| Brett | lowering secondary voltages w/ non-center-tapped xformer I have a Peavey Artist 1-12" combo amp carcass which I would like to rebuild into something cool utilizing classic circuits. I have a problem right off the bat because the power transformer secondary is not center-tapped (circuit originally employed a bridge rectifier). Am I correct in assuming I cannot use a zener diode to drop some voltage in this kind of circuit? If not, is there anything else I can do? (Using the bridge rectifier, the transformer develops 500 VDC going into the power supply -- too high for the kind of amp circuit I'd like to make!) Any help out there? -- Brett |
