I lowered the gyrator stages feedback resistor from 220k down to 22K because it was so hot. So crazy hot I was convinced 220k was just a ridiculous wrong value. It is distorting both those op-amps. So in that case, increaseing headroom would probably make a noticable difference. But it was still distorting that stage even with a +/- 9v supply! I built it on perfboard though... So not the same components. The diode clippers, inside the But I was still blinded by tubes and built the post eq section for the feedback loop of my tube amp. The eq section definitely benefits from higher voltage rails (I used +/-9) The bass resonance can be jacked higher without distorting like the pedal, when it is just too much! So to get back to the point... The diodes do clamp off the signal at a level lower than what the supply rails clamp it at.... But my guess is still that you will definitely notice. I have an old busted up mt-2 it needs a pot and knobs and stickers etc, I did make some sound with it a month ago. I would give it to you. if you want it. But tommorow I'll check and see what the caps are rated at. later, ethan |
