My source of information on this has been a few personal friends of Ken's, undoubtably biased but not quite the pure speculation you suggested. I see no reason for Ken to lie about some of the issues involved.

Last time I checked there wasn't a "Texas Tea" tone control on any Trainwreck amp I've ever seen pictures of either so, from what I know a Climax is nothing like a real trainwreck.

It seems like you must be unfamiliar with the Climax amp to ask the question about the Texas Tea tone control... the Climax is a two channel amp, with one channel being a hotrodded BF design and the other channel being similiar but not identical to a Trainwreck. It is the BF channel which has the Texas Tea control, which is a variable RF network that bypasses the tone stack (as posted by Terry Oubre on A.G.A. a few years back but quickly deleted... only not quick enough because some of the people here took notes). Here is a picture of the Climax chassis as posted on the Kendrick site a few years ago:

I bought the amp based on conversations with Gerald on the tone and versatility of the amp and he never said the words Trainwreck, Ken or Fischer during any of our presale conversations.

I checked the Kendrick site and the Trainwreck Climax page is no longer up- I may have it saved in my archives and will post it if I find it. (No luck finding it yet... :( ) In any case the Trainwreck logo was placed very prominently on that page when Kendrick was actively selling the full Climax (as opposed to the premature climax being sold on the Guitar and Amp Yard Sale page... :D ). There is some possibly questionable "history" in this ebay listing for a Climax tonehead:

So when was it that you had bought the amp? Just wondering... I think it was a guy in Sweden that had bought two of the early ones and said that they compared very favorably to a real Trainwreck that he had tried.

P.S. Yes, I admit to being biased in Ken's favor... the guy has chronic fatigue syndrome and I don't believe in kicking a man when he is down. :(
