Hi Dale     To my ears the TAD 6V6GTB-STRs are somewhat sweeter/creamier sounding then the EHs and way more 6V6-a like then the JJs ( great tube but a very "clean" 6V6 ).     Haven't tried the 12Ax7s you do mention but a NOS 5Y3 will give a lower voltage then a Sovtek one and sag a bit more.     Have fun building & tweaking,     Chris
