| Les | Re: Suggested Mods 5e3 Chris, et al, I have three quick questions that are being asked from the following perpestice. What I like MOST about the 5e3 is the early break-up, dirty, gritty old fender sound.., earlier the better. My goal is to reduce humbucker woofyness at the least cost to what I like and here are my questions: 1-Should I change every pre-amp coupling cap from .1uf to.047uf or lower, including the coupling caps from v2 to the power section? I have seen some folks only modding the bright channel for example. 2-Are the coupling cap and the bypass cap two recommendations such that I could try one without the other? If so, which one would have the most effect on clipping lower frequencies to reduce hummbucker woofyness at the least costs to early break-up? 3-Two years ago Bruce was suggesting going to .022uf for the coupling caps and a different value (maybe 8uf) on the bypass caps. Has .047uf (CC)and 4uf(BC)become more popular? Thanks again for the help. |
