| GregP | Re: Comparing original with clone I've dealt with Ted at Weber several times and no doubt he is the man. I haven't seen his amp kits, but if they are anything like his other gear, it's good, quality stuff. I am working on my first amp, a Mission 5E3. I can't imagine a better experience. The chassis is drilled and ready to go. Fifteen minutes and all sockets, swtiches, lamps, fuse are installed and ready for wiring. Bruce also has a voltage correct PT in his kit now. In the past he used a zener diode to bring the B+ down, not that using the zener diode was a big deal, but it is one less component in the build. One less thing to go wrong for a newbie. Bruce provides amazing customer service. My kit came with some cracked knobs, and Bruce went through his entire inventory, weeded out the remaining knobs that were factory defects and sent me three new knobs. I don't care if this thing sounds like the original as I am having so much fun with this build. You can not go wrong with it. |
