Spence	Re: Tele pup; what's with the string? It's parcel string, real cheap and the stuff you've seen is just stained by years of smokey environments. It's easy to recreate and the cheaper the string the better as indeed already pointed out, some white string is too good in it's finish. The brownish color is best created using coffee or gravy browning ( caramel )....coffee is best. I put the string on the bobbin after waxing so that the finished product looks like it's not potted and then add some Hoover dust with a paint brush after making the string wrap damp.
