Re: Other eyewitness accounts

Lord Other eyewitness accounts
"22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"[4] --which means, "God with us." "
Why are these guys so concerned with fulfilling old prophesies?
1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
Why does the spirit not already know that Jesus is the son of God? Why is he being tested by devil? Is devil and God working together?
5Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6"If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written:
" 'He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'[2] "
7Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'[3] "
Jesus does not like his arguments/teaching to be examined for consistency?
8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
10Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'[4] "
11Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him
Jesus does not like the devil's friendship and disregards the holy spirit's intent to test him.
Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[2] ?
Nevertheless I have liked this sentence. Relaxing indeed.
The Cost of Following Jesus
18When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. 19Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
20Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
21Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
22But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
Relaxing mood is taken back. The cost of following Jesus is sleepless nights.
anyway... John had a more fluent reading than Matthew. At least he was a good poet.. I'll try reading others too..
