| Greg | Calling Dirty K. and other Matchless lovers I would like to request some information on tweaks for the Matchless cicuits. I have owned several of them (none at present, other than my Spitfire homebrew) and I find them to be just perfect rhythm amps - but less than perfect lead amps. I am wondering if anyone had some tweaks that will give the amps (Lightning, C30 or Spitfire) a thicker, more solid single note - more akin to what I have heard on a Bruno (which, while still in the same chimey, class A-ish, voxy vein, is a fantastic lead amp but slightly less organic rhythm amp IMO). I am not talking about a more distorted sound, but rather a fuller, thicker, single note. I am basically wanting to build a two channel amp - a Lightning for rhythm and a ?? for the lead side tied to a standard Matchless 15 watt power section. Maybe I should just buy a Klon! Any direction is much appreciated! Greg |
