Yes - the Maz 18 definitely has a quality that lends itself to clean single note work. I never tried one with a single 12", but the 2x10's in with the lens design seemed to give a little bit of something that was less than natural to me - something hi-fi and perhaps "too" optimized. A hell of an amp for the money, though.

As for the Bruno, I think that it was pretty straight forward AC30 TB - I had been studying that circuit when I saw the Bruno and all of the caps and resistors in the cathode bias section - as well as the tone stack - appeared stock value - if not stock values, at least stock topology. There were cap values that were obscured by silicone. The voltages averaged 20 or so volts below the Matchless circuit - again, in line with the AC30 configuration. To my untrained eye and mind, the differences were power filtering and perhaps the OT - I have no idea what style OT is used. Hell - for that matter, the pine cabinet and 2 G12H30s may have been big contributors. All I can say with certainty is that it sounded and felt VERY close to perfect for what I look for. I guess I'd better stop writing and start tweaking that Lightning since I at least have a target tone.
