So then my question has been answeared and that is that: there are two types of JMP's out there one with two gain stages and one like you have Shea with three gain stages.  
 
But I'm looking at a 2204 schematic the one with three gain stages and it looks to me that the high input jack has the three gain stages and it starts at V1-a, coupled through C3(.022)THROUGH the closed low jack to the pre amp volume where you said that 470k input resistor is parraled with the 470pf or 500pf then into V1-b.  
 
Some people remove that 470/500pf cap out if the think the amp is to bright.
