| RedHouse | Re: I do believe you are onto something.... No I never did try that, and all this was a long time ago since I sold my 1959SLP some years ago. (stupid dumbass me) I didn't come up with all that on my own though, having been a Trower fan since he went solo I had tried numerous times to get a reasonable rendition of his sound, and back then they didn't make univibes anymore so I tried Mutron Bi-Phaze and MXR Phase-90's and stuff but never quite got the sound. (wish RG was around back then) Some years later I saw Robin Trower live at a tavern in Seattle ("Montana's" or 99 Club) back in about '87 I think, and it was quite cool as it was a small venue with table seating and I got a great table about 15 feet from him with a clear view of his gear, it was during that performance I noticed his setup had multiple cords going into his older 4-input Marshalls. He did in fact use two Marshall 1/2 stacks when I saw him and at the time, I was thinking he was using the two amps for different sounds (one cleaner and one very overdriven) but in retrospect you may be right about using the univibe into one amp and letting the phase cancellations happen in mid-air. |
