Do you have a couple model numbers in mind?  
 
>> I highly recommend the old tube type audio generators made by HP that can be found at swapfests for about $25. You don't have to worry about accidentally blowing them if you connect their output across B+ unintentionally. An indispensible tool for amp builders.
