Switching the larger cap in parallel is better?

Switching the larger cap in parallel is better?
Thanks Ed,

Better than using the swirch to short out the smaller cap placed in series with the larger one that is?

So, I should put the larger cap in parallel with the smaller cap, using the switch to break the loop containing the larger cap?

You lost me with the bit about the resistor to ground though. Are you saying that I can use a large value resistor to ground to bleed off the charge from the larger cap when the switch is off? Or should I place a large value resistor across the switch to keep the cap charged so it won't "pop"?

I think I may have answered my own question, but I'm kind of new at this stuff.

Thanks
