Job Security

nicJob Security
Is a myth. It is the biggest one that keeps us all a cog in the shit wheel, no matter how much money you earn. If you are an "associate" or a "partner" READ an EMPLOYEE of some large organization, most likely you are working "at will". Meaning if the stock starts dropping due to poor upper management, they can fire 4,000 of you to continue to pay that shity executive who will in turn continue to make the same poor business choices in the future. Still the market applauds layoffs for some reason, even if they are most often made too late and at the wrong level. I do, however, agree with the cliche "you can do more with less." Though I think it should be applied top down not bottom to top.

Earn your living as you see best fit. BTW, the margins on pedals are not that bad, even at the DIY'er buying power. As was illustrated earlier, "...DIY'r could build a FF for $35 instead of buying one for $250 or whatever they cost." Suppose it sold for $150, it is still margin enough for me.

Personally, $20,000 per year for 5 years would be enough to work for myself, it beats filing fly tape reports for $40K as a glorified secretary for the length of my "vesting period". I don't have a family, serious debts, nor power hunger. For others the Machiavellian upward movement is the only thing that defines success. To each their own.

You gotta constantly re-evaluate your position on the tree to determine if what you are doing supports your branches. Authority trees, incidentally are always shown upside down and should be drawn like a real tree if there is really such thing as "security" or "stability". But because there is no such thing may as well make it look like the power, importance, and security is at the top near god or something.

But what do I know? I probably cannot fathom another persons' definition of success. Nor would I really want to bend in order to adopt their rules on how to become successful and secure.
