Thanks Doc, very enlightening here. Do you or anyone else know how those frequency response curves are done that companies like EMG use to show resonant peak etc. are generated? That could be very useful for testing covers and winds etc. I'm wondering what kind of signal is fed into a pickup to test its overall frequency response for starters.  
 
 
 
Also, this may sound dumb (I just finished Lollar's winder and about to do a set of P90s this weekend), is there a quick way swap out pickups in a test guitar without changing strings etc. everytime? At EMG they had identical strats build and had their employees load each one up with test pickups, kind of an expensive way to go for me. Dave
