This should help with wire breaks from temp extremes. Also after I wax pot pickups the 20/80 mix always seeems to help the pickups sound. I use a temp control crock pot full of water with a thermometer and a coffee can with the wax mix like a Double-boiler. sound change? Change in dist cap in the coil? Heat of the potting? FWIW as a kid a trick to make my HO cars go faster was to heat the magnets to weaken the field.
