| Anthony Noel | Re: Fight for your right to make Double Creme humbuckers! Even then, You know there's still ways around it. I f I was a guitar builder that had a customer absolutely wanting a Fender style headstock on on eof my guitars. I could easily obtain an unprofiled or "To my specs" neck from someone like Warmoth or other dealer that "is" licensed to sell that headstock. And building the custom guitar that way and I would end up with a "Licensed copy" of that headstock that I could do with as I pleased. (As long as I did not go into production or advertise/offer it as a custom option.) It's somewhat like amp cloning. I can make a sweet as hell Fender Deluxe Reverb clone, and with after market parts make it look almost indistinguishable for a real one. I'd never offer to do it for anybody. But, if someone came to me and asked me to make a "Replica" of his favorite amp then I'd have to consider builing a one off "Replica", not a Forgery mind you. Which the forgery is what these guys are trying to stomp out. |
