WolfeMacleod | Interesting magnetic phenomenomononnn Interesting... Last night, I decided to polish an AZ rod magnet for a strat pickup. I bevelled it in the normal fashion, then took a nail buffer (sandpaper grit on one side, leather-like polishing surface on the other) and proveeded to polish the hell out of the end of the magnet. I gave it a mirror polish, being careful not to let it heat up. It looks SUPERB...however, I noticed that the magnet pull isn't nearly what it was before the polish job. It's like..1/2 the pull it used to have...very weak, by comparison. Any thoughts on this? Aside from heat, what could have caused this? Wolfe |
