Wax Potting a wooden Pickup ?

Gunno	Wax Potting a wooden Pickup ? I have a pickup with top-plate and the bottom-plate made of wood. Can I do a wax potting , beeswax and paraffin ,on this pickup or would it damage the wood ? Since it isn't my pickup I don't have the nerve to try it , I'm afraid damage it. Maybe I´ll try to pot some scrap wood pieces to see how it reacts. Or should I use another potting method ? And can I do a waxpotting on a pickup that's been potted with another potting method, for example lacquer potting ? I'm sure some of you guys can give some advice. Gunno
