| Dr. Strangelove | Re: What if we succeed? A friend at a mid-western plastics company has agreed to reverse engineer some bobbins and make recommendations on compositions and mold flow patterns. According to him, $10k is steep for just a mold, but rational for everything else that goes with it, whatever that may be. As for mold flow analysis, GE Plastics will give you application software for free, but you must CAD up a 3D stereolithograph (STL) file for input. The sofware models the plastic flow and suggests plastics according to your molding, machinability, and durability requirements. <http://www.geplastics.com/resins/designsolution/mfa/> Haven't tried it yet. Will see if I can CAD up a bobbin using TurboCAD freeware. -drh -- |
