| LFOscalator | Re: Acceptable modern Tele To put it another way, you pay for attention to detail in a higher priced instrument. However, the laws of diminishing returns are in effect. To get each succesive marginal improvement in quality requires greater marginal costs. IMO, some of fender's cheap guitars deliver 80% of what you get from their custom shop at a very reasonable price. It's getting that last 20% of quality that will cost you an arm and a leg, and for that you go to the custom shop. I've owned two fender custom shop guitars so far and feel that they were both very good guitars but not necessarily great guitars. Taking an average off the shelf fender and fine tuning it with new pickups and other mods is a cost effective way of coming up with a pretty decent guitar IMO. LFO |
