| LFOscalator | Re: Acceptable modern Tele If you don't mind buying one used, check out the old Blade Levinson Tele's distributed by Rocktron in the very early nineties. They play and sound great. Do not confuse it with the later Blade guitars that were being distributed by a big national big name store that I won't mention. It's not the same stuff. The early Blades were built with extreme attention to detail. The later Levinsons don't have the same coolness factor as the originals. And they are relatively inexpensive if you can find one. Also, check out GL, but you'll have to pay a pretty good price for one these days. I had one once and liked it. Every bit as good as Fender. If you have lot's of cash, buy a Tom Anderson Tele and be done with it. Also, I find that lot's of the current Fender production plays well but some could use a replacement set of pickups to improve the sound. I use Lindy Fralin pickups in my Tele and several of my Fender Stats and like the sound. The Fralins did wonders for a custom shop Strat I had that just didn't quite have the sound that I wanted. Very smooth sounding pickups, and one of the few that actually work quite well with various tone control settings without killing the tone. LFO |
