| LFOscalator | Re: What does the "JB" stand for? This could explain things. In the early '80s the sales literature on the thing stated that it was somehow associated with Jeff Beck. That definitely was one of the reasons I bought it. It was in the days when few professional pickup endorsements were around and I figured because Jeff allegedly endorsed it, it had to be good. I certainly was more gullable back then. Maybe the Jeff Beck 'JB' is no longer made by Duncan. Maybe Jeff didn't like the tone out of the thing either. I would not be surprised if today's JB is totally different than the originals of the early '80s. I don't mean to show disrespect for Duncan, because I've had other Duncan pickups that I liked. And to be fair about it, sound is a subjective thing. The music stores eventually sell every guitar hanging on their walls and each person who buys one thinks he got the best. Everybody is looking for something a little different than what the next guy wants. Same things with pickups. Different strokes for different folks. LFO |
