| Soapbarstrat | Re: Brighter Acoustic Strings Recently got an old 70's Epiphone acoustic for free. It's got a 24 3/4" scale length and had bronze strings. About a .012-.050 set, or somewhere around that size. Of course , right away I realized why I've never been crazy about playing an acoustic. The damn strings are too stiff and you are forced to play totally "straight forward" (can't do much bending or "shaking" etc etc.) So I put a set of electric guitar .010-.046 on it and it was much more fun to play, had a little more "kick" too. I think that old rule that an acoustic has to have real heavy bronze strings is kind of stupid. The volume didn't even go down much, if at all, with the electric strings. |
