| Soapbarstrat | Re: Virtual Guitar building That's a virtual guitar I made at that site, even though it looks quite real. I picked 'mahogany' for the body because they don't have alder. Try the 'spalted maple' option for some wild looking wood ! My real one is black with an Oak pickguard. Early 80's fender single at the neck that's quite hot, but I lowered it and often think it would be more "correct" to buy a weaker neck pickup and have it higher. But then when I listen to recordings I've made with it, I have to think " it ain't broke, so don't fix it". The levels match well enough, although I don't like the sound of the bridge P-90 and Fender neck together as much as I like a couple humbuckers together on another guitar. My P-90 is a Gibson one I bought new several years ago. I'd like to try to make a P-90 and not have it soaked with wax. I might be trading my black strat for one I sold to a friend that has a P-94. I want to replace the P-94 with the real deal though. But it has an oil finished alder body and sounds better acoustically than my black strat. Both guitars have late 80's MIJ fender necks. The black strat is all MIJ Fender. The oil finished is a mutt I had built many years ago. Probably more info than you guys needed. |
