Think of a hex-core having wraps put around it. the "points" of the hex-core shape would make hard contact with the wrap, but there would be gaps between the wrap and "flats" of the hex-core, if you know what I mean. And DR strings claim that "more mass reaches pitch sooner" aka- the strings reach pitch, but are SLIGHTY looser. I like DR strings, but they are pretty damn expensive, and so i feel like I have to wash my hands before playing them to make them stay new longer. I've only used their regular type though, whatever they call that, I can't remember . Tite-fit or something like that. They might even be hex-core. Somehow I get the feeling hex-core is more prodution friendly, otherwise why would they bother ? If someone knows a sonic advantage of a hex-core constructed string, let me know. |
