Re: Marshall 1959 RI
Bought a 1987X reissue to test out one of my boards in. Played it for awhile before starting the job and thought it sounded rather fuzzy. Also the noise floor coming from the amp was horrible.

Replaced the board and the OT at the same time, used a MMag Plexi OT. 1W Xicon Carbon Comps and RA Poly caps, 2W Clarostats from DWest.

Threw the same tubes back in her and fired the bad girl up after I was done and the difference was night and day. Lost all the fuzzyness and was clear as a bell, note definition was excellent. Honestly grant 99% of the new tone to the OT as I try not to get hung up on the components too much. Also with the cleaner layout and several feet of less wire knocked the noise floor down by at least half. Next time I have her open going to swap some 1W metal films for the plate resistors and see if I can get it down some more.

Not quite done here in the picture and for some reason I got a bit foofy with the wiring. Going to clean that up next time I have it open.

Personally think it's a 110% improvement in tone with this amplifier.

YMMV
