Yeah Steve's right on the money there, the fundamental frequency of a Guitar's low "E" string ("E2") is 82.41-Hz, and Bass ("E1") is 41.20-Hz.

My take on Bradster2k's example is I'm thinking the 160Hz he's on about is based on typical response curves of guitar speakers (rather than bandwidth?).

If that's true I'd have to agree, I see similar results with Celestion speakers. A Celestion G12T-75 has a rated bandwidth of 80-5000Hz, but has a response curve like:

notice how the usable low-end rolls off rapidly below the 150Hz region, actually dropping 10dB from 150Hz to 80Hz, and evidently Celestion thinks so too as they get their 97dB SPL rating from that 150-5k area.

Seems most guitar speakers have a similar low-end roll off, maybe you'd really need to go to a bass guitar speaker to see the curve drop-off much differently below the 150Hz area as for example with this 12" Celestion BL12-100:

which only drops 4 or 5dB from 150-50Hz and then only another 2dB down at 40Hz.

Just my take on this.
