2N2222 transistors in Big Muff/ gain reduction

Corwin	2N2222 transistors in Big Muff/ gain reduction Hi everyone, I was wondering if a 2N2222 transistor could be used in place of the 2N5088 or 2N5089 in the Big Muff circuit at TonePad. Anyone know if they'd be swappable? or if Radio Shack has the 2N5088 or 5089? Also, what components would I need to tweak to lower the gain?(don't want too much fuzz for a bass distortion).
