| carlo | Re: Queen Triggered Wah Thanks for all the help guys. Jack, thanks for the schematic. Please tell me you recently uploaded it, because your site was one of the first few i searched and i did not see it. I even grabbed a couple of other EH prints from you hoping they would give me some clues. Hate to think I missed the Queen print when it was right there the whole time. Also want to thank Stephen Giles for emailing me a copy of the schem. His copy had some extra info... A, B, C - RC4558 D - LM324 Q1, 2, 3 - Matched FET's Q4 - 2N5088 And thanks to Otto at New Sensor, who was kind enough to fax me a print too. How cool is this? Two days ago, i spent several hours searching the net and couldn't find one. Today, i feel blessed. Skreddy, Mark and GFR, thanks for the info and help. Now to follow up... The adapter jack is indeed a switching type and what Skreddy says about it switching out the battery makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, i'm a little confused because it's AC not DC. This comes from not quite understanding how Q4 works in the circuit. Common sense tells me it's functioning as a switch to bypass the battery when using AC. But it seems the battery stays connected to the Base of Q4 when the adapter is plugged in. Also, on the schematic it appears the switch is normally closed...plugging in breaks the connection. But on the pedal the switch is normally open...plugging in makes the connection. Finally, on the pedal, the two wires coming off the jack are the opposite of the schematic. On the schem, the tip goes to D9 and the switch goes to the Base of Q4. On the pedal, the tip goes to the Base of Q4 and the switch goes to D9. The only info i have from the owner is that a he soldered a wire after it broke off, then another one broke, so he figured he should stop messing with it. When i got the pedal he had both battery wires connected to the audio input jack...positive (red lead) to the switch and negative to the tip. So plugging a guitar in shorted the two battery terminals together. I assumed these were the only wires he messed with, but perhaps he also fooled with the wires connected to the AC jack. Anyone care to explain what's going on in this section of the circuit? And please tell me if any of my conclusions above are off. ps - Mark, i didn't see the Queen listed on the EH price list at your site. Although, seeing the fx listed did bring back some fond memories. I think i have a 'small clone' and a 'space drum' buried somewhere in the basement. BTW, did you ever locate a print for that MXR rackmount digital delay? ...this question goes back several years. |
