| Jsh | DS-1 mod... well what about it Hi guys, I've tried to modify my DS-1. After some good looks on the forums and the webpage www.robertkeeley.com, I built a complete mod with the "seeing eye" as well. The pedal sounds neat, but I think the only bad mod was the LED as diode for the distortion. It is set up as a-symmetric, which is nice, but the distortion tone itself is a little weird. It sounds great for about 0,5 seconds and then it changes into a softer sound. Anyone had a similar result? Could it be that it is the parallel condensator, that is suggested? That one is added parallel over the two diodes in the distortion circuit to cut of highs (harshness), I believe. Does anyone have a different suggestion, as diode? I was thinking about replacing the LED with two normal diodes to create that a-symmetric distortion. Recently scored a Japanese DF-2 pedal from Boss and the mods on my DS-1 come very close to the old sound of the Japanese models. Are there any schematics around of the DF-2? I wonder if they have the same build up. Regards Jsh |
