We visited Patagonia in 2000. From BA we did thye usual trip to see the penguins at Peninsular Valdes, then flew to Rio Gallegos and by road to El Califate and Perito Mereno Glacier. What the travel brochures never tell you is that the last 2 hour journey from El Califate is on unpaved road! We got quite shaken up! But the sight of that Glacier - wonderful.
