Same with my '62 ES330TD's P90's (I do believe that P90's are single coils). I changed the character of my 5E3 by switching out the V1 12AY7 with a 5751. This really brightened up the tone quite a bit. I then tried a bunch of different V2 tubes and have stuck with the vintage RCA 7025 out of my SFTR. This combo sounds great with every guitar that I have used with this amp.
