Bruce,
I wasn't making any comment regarding your kits whatsoever. I was talking about the original Fender grounding plates and the corrosion and crud I have cleaned from around these plates at the pots on more fender's than I can remember. I don't know why you took this personally as I was just expressing my opinion regarding this method of grounding used by Leo Fender. I do utilize a method of star grounding in my construction but one that separates the preamp grounds from the power section grounds and it has been quite successful for me. I can't believe you haven't had to brush clean the crud that forms around the pots at the brass plate of any of the hundreds upon hundreds of Fenders you have serviced. A soldered buss wire which in turn is grounded directly to the chassis will not corrode at all, is much cheaper than a brass plate and will last forever rather than many years. That's why I use the setup. I was simply sharing that information with the original poster of the thread in a humorous manner. I guess one person's humor is another person's smug.
