Darin | 5E3 Kit and recommendation/mods I am considering building a Mission 5E3 kit with my own cab design and using 2 10 inch speakers. I am looking for keeping the low level input as clean as possible. Realizing that the Tweed Deluxe is an overdrive machine, is this possible? I know that with the right tubes (namely lower gain preamp tubes) will help, and speakers make a world of difference as well. What speaker(s)/combination would give me a nice clean tone as well as break up nicely at higher volume levels/high level input? I would also like to add an effects loop. How is this mod best accomplished? I am a scientisit by schooling, so a technical explanation would be great. I have taken electronics classes and a year of college physics, so I can read a schematic, and apply my knowledge on the bench top, I am just not well versed in amplifier design, much less making mods. But, if I know the theory, I can certainly apply it. Thanks in advance for your help. |
