Doc	Re: Star Trek - The Lost Episode With the right amplification (capacitor mic's are very low output devices), you could resolve some sound from the vibrating string varying capacitance, by varying distance between it and the microphone, but I doubt it would sound anything like a guitar. It shows you're thinking. Could be the new accessory sound, different from a Theremin or electric sitar. Then maybe Roland could emulate it in their latest processor........
