Not all systems are as good as the EEC-IV, you'd be amazed what Lucas (Prince of Darkness) can come up with. Out of 45 ECUs that came in with 'check engine' faults in a year, 2 actually had the advertised fault. The rest needed the computer repaired or replaced. I still have nightmares about them. (There are actually 'homebrew' and 'boutique' engine management computers, believe it or not.) Liam
