MKB	Re: Soldering to Pickup Windings Use a small piece of folded sandpaper to remove the insulation from the wire; fold the sandpaper with the grit inside and then carefully pull the wire through the sandpaper several times. Practice a lot though, if you pinch the sandpaper too hard you may break the wire. Also, some magnet wire insulation is designed to melt off in a solder pot, so you may be able to solder through the insulation. This takes a special insulation though, your wire may not have it.
