Noisy Matchless Hot Box
I am playing a Carvin Bolt (3 single coils) into a Mesa/Boogie Nomad 45 4x10 combo. I recently purchased a Matchless Hot Box (has two Svetlana 12AX7s) which has an awesome distortion, but makes an awful lot of extra ground hum with my amp (even when two pickups are selected). Without the box, the amp is fine. Is it because the pedal must be plugged into an outlet? I had a bad ground hum problem with two of my stompboxes earlier (using AC adapters), but putting batteries in them fixed that. Is this a similar problem to running electrical cords too close to guitar cables?
