The problem with multiple speaker sizes in one cab is you have different compression rates and transient rises in the same space. Some of the freqs get PHYSICALLY phase cancelled. That can be good or bad, depending on what gets attenuated. You don't necessarily NEED a crossover since you are wanting to combine the full range sound of each speaker. When you go the crossover route, you get to pick what speaker amplifies what freq. Again, a taste issue. Psycho >^}
