Re: Homebrew Cabs
Peavey (YECHH!!!) made a cab with two 8"s and a 15". There was also one with two 10"s and an 18". They weren't deep enough for the big speakers though and you ended up with that 70's guitar low end(for bass):really flabby with none of the punch of the smaller speakers.

Eden makes a 300 watt combo amp that combines a 15" and a 10" speaker which I really like. The problem with multiple speaker sizes in one cab is you have different compression rates and transient rises in the same space. Some of the freqs get PHYSICALLY phase cancelled. That can be good or bad, depending on what gets attenuated. You don't necessarily NEED a crossover since you are wanting to combine the full range sound of each speaker. When you go the crossover route, you get to pick what speaker amplifies what freq. Again, a taste issue.
