| Charles | Re: Grill coth aging? Forget the coffee. Here's how it's done, and it's easy, cheap and permanent. You can do this before or after the grill is on, but I prefer before, since you can do both sides and get more control. Use MINWAX Wood Finish (HomeDepot). Not the poly stuff, just the oil/stain like the Danish stains. This comes in lots o' colors. You may have to get a few, I find golden oak does "ok" but you may prefer a little lighter. Lay out the cloth, rub it on with a rag, wipe it off with a rag. Done. The petro based stain will actually permanently stain the plastic fiber of the grille. Coffee will not stay put. You can go back over it and get the shading the way you like. I like to do the back first, then the front. That's it! Really easy, dries in minutes. If you get to much, you can lighten it a little with denatured alcohol, but it won't come off completely. I also use some Special Walnut, for that real oldy moldy look. (Not that often) It's also good for simulating beer stains! |
