Springy Fender Reverb Unit...
Ok, here's one for the techies... I bought a stand alone 66 Fender Reverb Unit last year. I had never heard one before and I bought it sight unseen/heard via the internet for a good price.

I also have a blackfaced 76 super reverb which was what I'm judging the 66 reverb unit against. The super reverb's reverb sounds heavenly, even dimed out. Very full, deep, and lush.

The 66 unit on the other hand, seems to shift from slight reverb to a very springy sounding reverb all in one feel swoop. No where in the adjustment range can I dial in the effect I hear produced by my super reverb.

I assumed that the unit would be like the super reverb's built in unit in the lower ranges and then move into an even deeper church-like echo in the higher ranges.

Am I expecting something that the standalone unit can't deliver? Or is there something wrong with this unit?

Note: It has a brand new set of NOS RCA's down the line. And the reverb pan is well away from the damper.
