Whip up a Fender- or Marshall-style frontend with tone controls etc. and then an LM386 or similar and you have a headphone amp that will run off of a 9V wall-wart. You could build it with NO HV whatsoever if you chose. OTOH, it wouldn't have any power tube distortion, but it would be a simple-ass project to whip up. Farrow http://surf.to/pharaohamps
