| Farrow | Weirdest amp yet? I bought an old amp and it got here yesterday. Brand name is "Titano," which is an accordian company. Many Titano amps were built by Magnatone, and that's why I picked this one up. But to my surprise, a bit of writing on the front panel reads Mfg. by Audio Guild Van Nuys, CA? So probably NOT Magnatone. It gets weirder... The chassis is released from the cabinet with one screw. (Good design)and on the back, I see the tubes: 5x7025 1x6GH8, and !!4!! 7591!!! So 2 7025s are drivers, 2 are preamp stages and the 6GH8 is for the reverb. The "Vibrato" is real pitch vibrao and is impemented with a transistorized circuit that also emplys a neon lamp and 2 photocells. So it turns out that this thing is STEREO, one channel into an 8" and the other into a 12". Problem is there's some sort of internal crossover that keeps all the highs out of the 12". I don't mind rolling off the bass for the 8" but I need a schematic (if anyone has one) for this puppy. I don't see anything that's obviously a crossover and EVERYTHING's on PCBs. Flying leads to the tubes. It's quite tight in there. Anyone got any ideas? I'm thinking they did the frequency shaping before the driver stage but I can't see. Thanks in advance Farrow |
