ts9 bias and stuff

kylets9 bias and stuff
I'm working on my first ts9 clone and I've got a few questions for you guys. First off I'm building the son of screamer version. One thing I'm not sure of is the biasing of the 2nd op amp stage. In the ts9 circuit there is a 10k bias resistor, but in the SOS there isn't. The pedal works great with or without this resistor. I'm getting 4.8 volts on the + input. Is this voltage coming from the output of the distortion stage? Why is the resistor used in the ts9? Also I don't understand why the volume pot is going to the bias supply/AC ground on the ts9. There's caps blocking this from reaching the output buffer so I don't see it having anything to do with biasing the transistor. Is it just an easy place to signal ground the pot on the pcb? Last question for now. I also want to build 2 of these in one box. Is there a quad opamp that sounds like the better dual opamps? Thanks for any info, Kyle.
