| Steve A. | Re: Customers listening too critically & imagining noises in repaired amps - what to call that phenomenon? Ed: Good question! No answer here at this time, but I thought that I'd suggest something; with hard disk recording getting pretty damn cheap, why not make a quick sound sample of an amp when it comes in? (If you are doing mods to an amp (not a PV Classic 50! < g >), that would give them some sort of reference as to how you changed/improved the sound.) After the happy customer has signed off the bill, you can delete the sound samples to free up hard drive space. For this application I think a Soundblaster card, an SM57 mike and some sort of preamp would be all that you need. Oh, I guess you'd need a computer. too! Thanks for bringing that up! Steve Ahola |
